About Wilston Dental Group
Wilston Dental Group was established in 1954 by Dr John Muller. Today, it’s a familiar part of the Wilston Village precinct and continues to provide high quality dental care to its patients—including many who have been visiting since the practice first opened.
All of our dentists are Dental Board registered and are members of the Australian Dental Association (ADA).

Dr Peter Beer
BDSc BDSc FICD FPFA
Peter graduated from the University of Queensland in 1976. He has been involved in various committees of the ADA, The Dental Assistants Training and Education Association and has tutored undergraduate students at the University of Queensland. He’s a member of a number of professional groups and has a strong commitment to continuing education.
Peter joined Wilston Dental Group in 1981, and enjoys the professional relationships he has developed with his patients over the past thirty years.
Dr Peter Carr
BDSc FRACDS FICD FPFA
Peter graduated from the University of Queensland in 1987. After spending time working in remote and regional Queensland, he worked in the UK before joining Dr Beer at Wilston Dental Group. Peter has been practicing at Wilston Dental Group since 1993.
Peter is committed to continuing education through the ADA and other education groups, and has served on a number of ADA Queensland committees and the Queensland Regional Committee for the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. He has taught in clinics at the University of Queensland and has been an examiner for the Affiliate programme of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.
Dr Nick Shorten
BDSc
Nick is a 2001 graduate of the University of Queensland. He began his years of private practice working in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast before relocating to Melbourne for three years. He returned to Brisbane and has made Wilston Dental Group his home since 2008.
Preventive and conservative dentistry have been a major focus of Nick’s career and he remains active in his pursuit of continuing education through his membership of the ADA and professional groups.
Dr Ashleigh Newberry
BDSc
Ashleigh graduated from the University of Queensland Dental School in 2010. Following graduation she relocated to Townsville where she worked for both the private and public sectors and enjoyed supervising undergraduate dental students in the public dental clinics. Ashleigh returned to Brisbane in 2014 to live closer to her family.
Ashleigh is committed to continuing her dental education as a member of the ADA and by frequently attending courses to improve her skills. She has a keen interest in preventative and children’s dentistry. Ashleigh is proud to be working for Wilston Dental Group as she has been a regular attendee of Dr Peter Beers’ since she was an infant.
Dr Stuart Garraway
BDSc
Stuart Graduated from the University of Queensland in 1990. Following graduation, he spent time as the travelling dentist throughout the Torres Strait and Western Queensland before returning to Brisbane to work in private practice.
Stuart takes an active interest in continuing education and has been a teacher in clinical restorative dentistry at the University of Queensland School and Dentistry. Stuart served as the Secretary/Treasurer and the President of the Australian Prosthodontic Society in Queensland for a six-year period. He has also served on many ADA committees, as a council member and an Executive Officer of the Queensland Branch of the Australian Dental Association.
Stuart’s interest in sport has led to over 20 years involvement with the Qld Reds and the Australian Wallabies Rugby Teams as their on-field dental professional. As a result of this he maintains a strong interest in mouthguard design, construction and dental trauma.
Stuart has a keen interest in all fields of dentistry, particularly crowns and ceramic restorations, implant restorations, and root canal treatment.

Tahlia Mitchell
CERT III Dental Assisting
Tahlia joined Wilston Dental group in 2015 as a dental assistant, shortly after she completed her certificate lll in dental assisting at the Australian Dental Association. She is dedicated to running a professional dental clinic and ensuring you receive the highest levels of service at your visit.
