Our Dental Services

Preventive Dentistry

Dental Care & Oral Health

Healthy teeth and gums are always best achieved through prevention and this is true for people of all ages. The dentists at Wilston Dental Group are strong believers in both a preventive approach to dental treatment and to minimal intervention when fixing existing oral health problems.

Perhaps you may need a subtle change in cleaning technique? Or possibly a different type of toothpaste? Through our recall appointments, we will work with you to establish the best practices and routines for preventing dental problems before they happen.

Children’s Dentistry

Protect Your Child’s Smile

The best time to establish a lifetime of good oral health is early in life. At Wilston Dental Group we are always happy to help look after your child’s oral health.

The focus of our paediatric treatment is always on prevention, but should problems arise, we are able either to treat them in a minimally invasive way, or to organise referral to one of the paediatric specialists with whom we work closely.

All of our dentists at Wilston Dental Group feel it is very important that a child’s introduction to dentistry is fun, caring and productive.

Restorative Dentistry

Fillings & Adhesive Dentistry

When a tooth is damaged by trauma or decay it may require a restoration (or filling). Our dentists will discuss with you the best techniques and materials to achieve restoration of your tooth to health and function.

Much of the time we are able to do this with adhesive (white) fillings to maximise aesthetics. All of our practitioners are experienced in adhesive dentistry and believe in a sensible, minimally invasive approach to restorations.

Prosthodontics

Protect & Strengthen

When teeth become damaged or weakened to the point where a filling may not work long term, it may be necessary to rebuild with a crown. These are mostly made of strong ceramics which protect and strengthen the underlying tooth while giving an excellent level of aesthetics.

We have a choice of techniques and materials which we can use to bring more heavily damaged teeth and lost teeth back to health. Your dentist will discuss with you which of these is most suitable for your particular case.

At Wilston Dental Group we always work with high quality local ceramic laboratories to ensure quality and durability.

Endodontics

Root Canal Therapy

In the middle part of your tooth is the root canal which contains the living tissue you use to sense hot and cold. When this becomes infected or badly inflamed, root canal therapy is the best or sometimes even the only way to preserve your natural tooth.
All of our dentists are skilled in endodontic procedures in both front and back teeth, and for more complex cases we work closely with endodontic specialists.

Happily, although the term ‘root canal’ often conjures up negative associations, the procedure itself (especially in skilled hands) is usually painless and comfortable.

Implant Therapy

Crowns & Bridges

Should you need to have a tooth removed or be missing one already, you are likely to be able to replace it with an implant-retained crown or bridge.

At Wilston Dental Group we work closely with skilled periodontists and surgeons to organise placement of a dental implant in place of your lost tooth root.

Our dentists are skilled in then creating a ceramic tooth to closely mimic your lost tooth in function and aesthetics.
We use only high quality local laboratories for our implant ceramics.

Tooth Whitening

Treatments To Enhance Whiteness & Brightness

If you would like to change the colour of your teeth, tooth whitening may be the right treatment for you. Step one is to establish what type of discolourations you’d like to change and whether tooth whitening can help. Your dentist will walk you through this process.

The take-home approach offered at Wilston Dental Group is safe, generally very effective and won’t irreversibly damage your teeth.
If you are interested in this treatment,

Sports Mouthguards

Mouth Protection

If you are playing a contact sport, a mouthguard is essential. A single sports injury to your teeth can result in the need for dental treatment over the course of a lifetime.

A well fitting, dentist-made mouthguard will protect your teeth (and the bone underneath) considerably more than the store bought variety.

Our laboratory technician can generally have the mouthguard ready to be picked up within a couple of days.

Oral Devices

Bite Splints etc.

In the middle part of your tooth is the root canal which contains the living tissue you use to sense hot and cold. When this becomes infected or badly inflamed, root canal therapy is the best or sometimes even the only way to preserve your natural tooth.

Tooth Extraction

Removal & Treatment

At Wilston Dental Group our first priority is to keep your natural teeth healthy, functional and aesthetic.

When a tooth is unable to be preserved however, we are able at Wilston Dental Group to either remove it, or to organise referral to surgeons with whom we work closely.

If the tooth is uncomfortable, we may also be able to provide pain relieving procedures to keep you comfortable until the tooth can be removed.

Removable Prosthetics

Dentures etc.

Where multiple teeth are missing, a removable prosthesis may be an effective way of returning your teeth to function and aesthetics.
At Wilston Dental Group we work with high quality local laboratories to provide prostheses which are as well fitting, durable and aesthetic as possible.

Orthodontics

Straightening & Improvement

Many of us will require orthodontic treatment over our lifetime either for aesthetic tooth straightening or to improve the way our teeth bite together.

At Wilston Dental Group we refer to, and work closely with specialist local orthodontists to ensure that the teeth and mouth stay healthy throughout orthodontic treatment.
